Education and Teaching

We are committed to providing high-quality educational experiences. Our educational initiatives include:

Journal Club

A fortnightly online journal club will be held for members to discuss research papers, whether they are clinical, more focused on basic science or qualitative. The aim of the club is to help members develop their critical appraisal skills and identify the strengths and weaknesses of the papers presented.

Talks

The talks will be presented by leading experts to cover current research happening in the neurological field around the world. SUNS aim to help mitigate the barriers for students getting involved in research through our talks. Other goals we aim to achieve through the talks include:

  • Highlight the key questions being asked in various subspecialties.

  • Introduce students to the innovative research strategies used in the field of clinical neuroscience.

  • Connect students with world leaders in their fields.

  • Identify barriers to student involvement in research.

Teaching

SUNS will organise teaching sessions on clinical neurosciences, encompassing neuroanatomy, neurology and neurosurgery to help with students' understanding on these topics. We also aim to support students taking the UKMLA by offering clinical neuroscience teaching through case-based discussions, OSCE practice sessions, and MCQ sessions.

These sessions allow students to engage with leading researchers and gain insights into the latest advancements in the field.

The Scottish Universities Neurological Society is formed by a group of students interested in promoting and providing more opportunities in clinical neurosciences...
